One clean list of everything in your inbox. Sort by date or sender, clear what doesn't matter, and reply to what does in a calm, distraction-free editor.
Free during the beta · macOS 14 or later · Apple Silicon
Not available on mobile yet. Brev is a Mac app for now. You can request access here and install it on your Mac.
What it does
Every email is one quiet line: sender, subject and a few words of preview. You can tell what most of it is without opening it.
See the people who matter straight away, and how much everyone else is sending you. Clear a noisy sender in one go.
Shift or ⌘-click to select, then archive, trash, snooze or label the lot. Narrow to today, yesterday or this week first.
Replies open in a quiet, distraction-free editor. Write in markdown and see it styled as you type.
Read, reply, archive, star, snooze and label without the mouse. Press ? to see every shortcut.
Search starts with sender names and returns results from your Mac first, then fills in from Gmail.
I'm testing AI features that help you decide what needs you first. They're there to get you through your email faster, not to keep you in it. They'll be optional, and the privacy points below describe Brev as it works today.
Readable newsletters with images and tracking pixels removed, a Threads view for conversations you're in, snooze, labels, light and dark themes, and ten accent colours.
Privacy
Brev talks only to Google, for sign-in and Gmail. It connects to nothing else.
Your messages are kept in a local database on your Mac. Your sign-in token sits in the macOS Keychain.
No analytics, telemetry or crash reporting that sends data anywhere.
Brev doesn’t load images in emails, so senders can’t tell when you open a message.
You sign in with your own Google account. I hold no copy of your mail or your login.
The beta
You use Gmail on a Mac, you get more email than you'd like, and you prefer the keyboard to the mouse.
Brev free for the length of the beta, new builds as they ship, and a direct line to the person building it.
Use it for your real email for two weeks. Tell me what breaks, what's slow and what gets in your way.
You'll need macOS 14 or later, an Apple Silicon Mac and one Gmail or Google Workspace account. When you sign in, Google will warn that the app is unverified. That's expected during the beta, and verification comes before public launch.
Request access
Tell me a little about your email. When there's a place, I'll send you a download link and a short note on getting started.
Google asks me to add each tester's Gmail address before they can sign in, so please use the address you'll connect to Brev.
I'm adding people in small batches. When there's a place, I'll email your invite and a download link. It usually takes a week or two.
